This role sits at the intersection of mocap performance capture and editorial, responsible for processing, cleaning, and delivering motion data that feeds directly into layout and animation departments on major feature film and VFX productions. About the Role

The Mocap TD – MoEdit Hybrid sits within DNEG’s shot prep department, working across the capture-to-shot pipeline on high-volume feature film and episodic VFX projects. Day-to-day work involves ingesting raw mocap data, applying solve workflows, and preparing edited takes for layout and animation teams to build from. The hybrid remote setup spans the London and western sites, meaning this person needs to be fluent in working across time zones with distributed production teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Process and solve raw motion capture data from shoot through to clean, deliverable takes using industry-standard mocap software and pipeline tools.
• Perform MoEdit duties including take selection, range marking, and performance editing to support layout and animation departments downstream.
• Collaborate with the shoot team on set to ensure data integrity from capture through to ingest, flagging any technical issues early in the VFX pipeline.
• Maintain organised shot and take hierarchies within the production database, keeping naming conventions and versioning consistent across western sites.
• Support layout teams during shot prep by delivering appropriately retargeted and scaled motion data matched to production rigs.
• Troubleshoot solver and retargeting issues across varied character types and performance capture setups throughout the production workflow.

What You Bring

• Demonstrated experience as a Mocap TD or MoEdit specialist on feature film or high-end episodic television productions.
• Proficiency in Vicon Shogun, Motionbuilder, or comparable motion capture processing software used in a live VFX pipeline.
• Solid understanding of skeletal retargeting, constraint systems, and how mocap data integrates into animation rigs.
• Experience working within a multi-site production environment across different time zones is a strong advantage.
