Paid Extras Job in Atlanta for MTV Project

Job Position(s): Paid Extras Job in Atlanta for MTV Project

MTV is hiring paid extras for a television production shooting in Atlanta, Georgia. Extras work on set to populate scenes, providing the background presence that grounds episodic television in a believable world. This role suits performers comfortable taking direction on a live set and holding their look and position across multiple takes.

About the Role

This paid extras job sits within the production department of an MTV project, supporting the on-set team responsible for capturing scenes that require background talent. Extras on episodic television productions like this one typically report to the background casting coordinator and second assistant director, who manage placement, holding areas, and scene flow. A typical day includes check-in, wardrobe review, positioning by the AD team, and standing by between setups, which can run long depending on the shooting schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Report to set on time and follow direction from the second assistant director regarding placement and movement within the scene.
• Maintain continuity of wardrobe, position, and action across multiple takes of the same scene.
• Stay in designated holding areas between setups and remain available for immediate return to set when called.
• Follow background action cues without drawing focus from principal talent or looking directly into camera.
• Cooperate with wardrobe and hair and makeup departments if adjustments are required before or during filming.
• Adhere to all on-set protocols including mobile device policies and confidentiality expectations standard to television production.

What You Bring

• Prior experience as a background performer on film or television sets is preferred but not required.
• Ability to follow detailed on-set direction and hold position for extended periods during episodic television production.
• Availability for full shoot days, which may extend based on production scheduling needs.
• Professional conduct in a working television environment with principal cast and crew present.
• Based in or able to work in the Atlanta area without travel reimbursement.

Why This Role

MTV has a long-running history in unscripted and music-driven television production, and working on one of their Atlanta shoots gives background talent direct exposure to a major cable network’s on-set workflow. Atlanta has become one of the primary hubs for television production in the United States, meaning this role connects extras to a broad local industry network. This is a paid position on a legitimate television production.
