Vancouver Actors Guide is casting for Address Me, a student-led short film project shooting in Vancouver, BC. This is an actor-facing casting call seeking performers to fill ensemble and supporting roles across a theatre-group narrative with physical performance requirements. Address Me suits early-career stage and screen actors looking to build reel credits on a collaborative, director-driven student production.

About the Role

Address Me is a student film project shooting at Emily Carr University, with an initial director-led shoot on Saturday, October 31st functioning as a first-round audition. The production requires performers comfortable working within an ensemble physical theatre framework, including animal characterization work involving cats and dogs. Shortlisted actors will be called back for either an in-person audition or a self-tape submission based on casting needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform as ensemble theatre group members or crew characters within the film’s narrative, bringing physical theatre vocabulary to camera-facing work.
  • Embody animal characters, specifically cats and dogs, with movement and physical specificity suited to the production’s stylistic tone.
  • Engage with practical on-set elements including a cardboard elephant puppet as part of the established visual world of the film.
  • Actors cast as Alan’s family will portray a domestic family unit across an age range of 25 to 60, with a preference for Southeast Asian performers.
  • Attend the October 31st shoot at Emily Carr as part of the audition process, with further character and script details provided upon shortlisting.

What You Bring

  • Age range of 18 to 22 for ensemble theatre and crew roles, or 25 to 60 for the family unit roles.
  • Background in theatre performance, student film production, or screen acting with physical performance experience.
  • QUEER BIPOC identity is a casting requirement for the ensemble theatre group roles, with Southeast Asian heritage preferred for the family roles.
  • A demo reel or headshot submission is requested where applicable, to support the casting process prior to the audition date.
  • Availability on Saturday, October 31st in Vancouver, BC for the on-set audition round.
