Compensation: $28 - $50/hr

Route 7 Productions, Inc. is hiring a Grip & Lighting Photo Assistant based in West Chester, OH. This role sits at the intersection of grip work and photo studio production, keeping lighting rigs, grip carts, and studio infrastructure running cleanly across both in-studio shoots and on-location production days. It suits a hands-on crew member who knows their way around lighting gear and grip hardware and takes real ownership of set readiness.

About the Role

The Grip & Lighting Photo Assistant supports photographers, producers, and set teams across commercial photo production, working within the grip and lighting department to make sure every shoot day starts ready and ends clean. A typical day moves between calibrating studio lighting, stocking grip carts, tracking expendables, and jumping in on set builds or location pulls. This is a two-week engagement starting as soon as possible, with the potential to grow into a semi-permanent position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Power on, calibrate, and shut down all studio lighting each day to protect gear and maintain consistent production-ready conditions.
  • Keep grip carts fully stocked, labeled, and organized, returning silks, modifiers, and accessories to designated storage after every shoot.
  • Monitor expendable inventory including gaff tape, sweep paper, batteries, and canned air, and coordinate replenishment with purchasing contacts and the Lead Photographer.
  • Support set builds and strikes by assisting set teams with assembly, material handling, and structural adjustments during photo studio production.
  • Accompany production teams on location, managing equipment transport, on-site setup, and post-shoot return of all grip and lighting gear.
  • Check in regularly with photographers throughout the shoot day to confirm equipment and support needs are covered and the schedule stays on track.

What You Bring

  • One to three years of experience in a photo studio, commercial production, or warehouse environment handling grip and lighting gear.
  • Working knowledge of photography lighting equipment, grip hardware, and studio production workflows.
  • Comfort with hand tools and light construction, including set assembly and material handling.
  • Willingness to operate PIT equipment including reach trucks and scissor lifts, with certification and training provided by the company.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly across studio and off-site location environments.

Why This Role

Route 7 Productions, Inc. offers a real entry point into commercial photo production infrastructure, with hands-on grip and lighting work across both studio and location settings in the West Chester, OH area. The pay range for this Grip & Lighting Photo Assistant position is $28 to $50 per hour based on experience.
