Job Position(s): Associate VFX Producer
Project Type: Feature Film
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: Paid - Salary

DNEG is hiring an Associate VFX Producer for their Sydney, NSW studio, one of the largest VFX houses operating in Australia. This role sits at the intersection of production management and client-facing VFX coordination on high-end feature film and television projects, working directly with Line Producers, VFX Supervisors, and regional production teams to drive delivery of shots, temps, and finals. It suits an experienced Production Manager ready to step into broader show oversight and client communication responsibilities.

About the Role

The Associate VFX Producer sits within DNEG’s feature film and TV production division, typically assigned to large-scale shows running multiple Line Producers across regional studios. Day-to-day work involves compiling regional resource files, managing shot schedules, troubleshooting crew and pipeline issues, and keeping client reporting on track through weekly deliverables. On the TV side, there is scope to run a smaller series independently under Executive Producer oversight, making this a genuine step toward a full Producer credit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with the VFX Producer and Supervisor to establish and maintain the overall production plan, including milestone tracking for assets, shots, temps, and finals across all units.
  • Own client-facing communications and produce the weekly client report, ensuring accuracy across regional resource data and shot progress.
  • Check and compile regional weekly resource files to support crew allocation decisions as shows move toward final delivery.
  • Guide and mentor the Production Manager and wider show production team, stepping in to resolve scheduling conflicts and departmental blockers before they affect the VFX pipeline.
  • Produce detailed shot schedules in Shotgun, Excel, and MS Project to track weekly progress and surface risks to the Producer early.
  • Manage production staff not assigned to a specific unit, creating consistent workflow and a stable team environment across the show.

What You Bring

  • Proven feature film production experience delivering sequences at Production Manager level or equivalent within a high-end VFX environment.
  • Working knowledge of Shotgun for shot tracking and production database management.
  • Proficiency in Excel and MS Project, or a comparable scheduling and project management tool.
  • Strong understanding of VFX post-production workflow sufficient to make informed calls on crew allocation and resourcing under deadline pressure.
  • Experience managing artists and handling client relationships directly within a VFX production context.

Why This Role

DNEG’s Sydney studio is embedded in a global network of over 9,000 VFX and animation professionals, which means the productions coming through are among the largest in the feature film and episodic television space. This Associate VFX Producer position is structured as a deliberate step toward the full Producer role, with real show ownership built into the scope from day one. DNEG has a stated commitment to equitable hiring practices and will accommodate reasonable adjustments through the application process.
