Job Type
Disney is hiring a Streaming Media Assistant for a remote position based in California, serving its direct-to-consumer streaming operations across Disney+, ESPN+, and Star+. This role sits within the Media Operations department, where the team handles around-the-clock live and on-demand streaming video orchestration, system health monitoring, and incident management using proprietary broadcast and delivery software. It suits a technically grounded operations professional who is comfortable working non-standard hours and thrives in a live broadcast environment where uptime and accuracy are not negotiable.
About the Role
The Media Operations department at Disney Streaming runs 24/7 to support the full streaming pipeline across multiple global products, from live sports on ESPN+ to on-demand content across the Disney+ library. As a Streaming Media Assistant, your day involves monitoring platform health, coordinating live event workflows, and executing VOD streaming media processes through internal tooling. This is a hands-on technical operations role, not a project management seat, and the work directly affects what millions of subscribers see on screen.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor system health across live and on-demand streaming video products, escalating incidents according to established operational protocols.
- Execute live streaming media orchestration using proprietary software as part of a 24/7 staffed operations team.
- Provide real-time operational support for partner products including ESPN+, Disney+, and Star+, covering both live event delivery and VOD workflow management.
- Perform daily processes and procedures within the streaming post-production and delivery pipeline, maintaining accuracy across all platforms.
- Document incidents and operational notes with the level of detail required to support handoffs across a round-the-clock shift structure.
- Respond to platform irregularities during nights, weekends, and holidays as part of a rotating schedule covering the full broadcast calendar.
What You Bring
- A solid understanding of computer systems and media applications relevant to streaming or broadcast operations workflows.
- Experience in live broadcast, streaming media, or a related digital media operations environment is preferred.
- Demonstrated attention to detail in a production or technical operations context where errors have real downstream consequences.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills suited to shift handoffs and incident reporting.
- Availability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays without exception.
Why This Role
Disney Streaming operates one of the largest direct-to-consumer video infrastructures in the world, and the Media Operations team sits at the center of keeping it live. For someone building a career in streaming media operations or broadcast delivery, this role offers direct exposure to the full scope of a major studio’s streaming pipeline across sports, entertainment, and international markets. The remote structure makes it accessible from anywhere in California while placing you inside a team that genuinely runs the stream.
Apply now for the Streaming Media Assistant role at Disney and put your operations skills to work at the center of one of the industry’s most watched streaming pipelines.
