Sony Pictures Classics is hiring an Intern in Sales for Spring 2027, based onsite in New York, NY. This role sits inside the SPC Sales Department, supporting the distribution and release tracking operations that get independent and foreign language films in front of theater audiences. It suits a detail-oriented student or early-career professional with a genuine interest in arthouse and specialty film distribution.

About the Role

Sony Pictures Classics has one of the most respected specialty film distribution labels in the business, and the Sales team manages the operational pipeline that connects finished films to theatrical exhibition partners across the country. As a Sales Intern, you will work directly within that distribution workflow, handling the materials, data, and research that keep releases on track. The program runs from January 4 or 11, 2027 through April 16, 2027, with flexible start and end dates, and requires availability of up to 29 hours per week onsite.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fulfill orders for theatrical marketing materials including posters and trailers, coordinating with internal teams to meet exhibition deadlines.
  • Conduct research projects relevant to the specialty film distribution market and compile findings into structured data reports.
  • Audit theater and exhibitor websites to verify that release information is accurate and up to date across all platforms.
  • Track film release schedules across distribution calendars to support the sales team’s planning and communication with exhibition partners.
  • Assist with day-to-day administrative tasks that keep the Sales Department running across an active theatrical release slate.

What You Bring

  • Current enrollment in an accredited college or university, with a preferred focus on film, business, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to manage and organize data sets used in release tracking and reporting.
  • Proficiency in Adobe InDesign and Photoshop for support tasks involving theatrical marketing materials.
  • Genuine interest in American independent and foreign language films, the genres at the core of the SPC release slate.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a working theatrical distribution environment.

Why This Role

Sony Pictures Classics has distributed some of the most significant independent and foreign language films of the past four decades, and this internship puts you inside the theatrical distribution workflow at one of the few labels still committed to that kind of specialty film release strategy. The anticipated base pay for this role is $19 per hour. Applications are due by October 15, 2026.

Apply now for the Intern, Sales position at Sony Pictures Classics and get hands-on experience in specialty film distribution at one of New York’s most established labels.
