Surmount New York is hiring a Graphic Designer and Video Editor for Social Media based in Yonkers, NY. This role sits within the marketing and digital content workflow, responsible for producing graphics, short-form video, and platform-ready assets that represent the brand across Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn. It suits a designer who is equally comfortable in Photoshop as they are in a video editing timeline and who understands how social media content actually performs.

About the Role

This is a single-seat creative role covering both design and post-production for social media output, meaning the person in this chair owns the visual identity of the brand across every channel. Day to day, the work moves between building graphics for campaigns, cutting reels, and repurposing longer video into platform-specific clips. The role demands someone who can manage their own production workflow without a creative director standing over their shoulder.

Key Responsibilities

• Design original graphics for social media posts, stories, and paid ads, formatted to the spec requirements of each platform.
• Edit and deliver short-form video content including reels, applying cuts, transitions, captions, sound design, and motion effects appropriate to each channel.
• Repurpose long-form video into condensed, platform-optimized clips that retain narrative clarity and visual impact.
• Maintain brand consistency across all visual and video output, evolving the look as the brand grows without losing coherence.
• Build reusable templates and asset libraries that allow recurring content to be produced efficiently.
• Work directly with the marketing team to translate campaign briefs into finished creative, iterating quickly based on feedback.

What You Bring

• A portfolio demonstrating both graphic design and video editing work, with social media content strongly preferred.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, and familiarity with Canva or Figma.
• Hands-on experience in at least one professional video editing application such as Premiere Pro, After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, or CapCut.
• A working understanding of layout, typography, color theory, visual hierarchy, and video pacing as they apply to short-form content production.
• The ability to take editorial notes and turn revisions around quickly within a real production schedule.
