About the Role

This position is part of the CBS News Streaming team, which produces continuous digital news content for a national audience. The WGA Line Producer works directly under the executive producer and supervising producer, handling the full arc of a live news broadcast from rundown construction to control room execution. Day to day, that means coordinating correspondents, ordering graphics, directing writers and associate producers, and making real-time editorial calls during live programming.

Key Responsibilities

• Line produce live news broadcasts by building and managing the rundown, shaping show flow, and determining placement of live and recorded content across future hours.
• Work from the control room to cue shows in and out of breaks, monitor newsworthy live events, and take breaking coverage to air in real time.
• Partner with the assignment desk and booking team to coordinate correspondents and secure live interview guests for the broadcast schedule.
• Write teases, headlines, readers, story slugs, and lower-third banners for live programming, contributing to the editorial voice of the newsroom.
• Direct a team of writers, associate producers, and digital associates in building original content and repurposing material from broadcast partners.
• Generate story ideas for future coverage and assign swap content for the automated software wheel, keeping the 24-hour news pipeline moving.

What You Bring

• Demonstrable experience as a line producer or senior producer in a live broadcast news environment, with credits in episodic news or streaming news production.
• Strong control room experience, including live news direction, rundown management, and real-time editorial decision-making under deadline.
• Familiarity with automated rundown and broadcast software used in 24-hour digital news workflows.
• Proven ability to mentor junior writers and manage production staff across a live broadcast shift.
• This role is represented by the WGA East, and candidates must meet applicable guild requirements.
