Lois by Ecolois is hiring a Visual Quality Expert with a film, VFX, and animation background to work remotely across the USA. This role sits inside a GenAI development program where the work is evaluating AI-generated and upscaled imagery at the pixel level, the same frame-by-frame scrutiny that happens in a VFX post-production workflow during final delivery review. It is built for senior practitioners, colorists, rendering supervisors, DPs, and high-end photographers who have spent years catching what others miss.

About the Role

This is a part-time W-2 position, approximately 20 hours per week, placed through Cincinnatus LLC within an AI lab’s image quality team. Day to day, the work mirrors a dailies review session: loading high-resolution stills and video, evaluating output against professional image quality standards, and documenting findings in precise technical language that feeds directly into model training data. The role sits at the intersection of VFX pipeline knowledge and AI development, making it a genuine extension of a post-production career rather than a departure from one.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate high-resolution video and stills at pixel level, identifying compression artifacts, noise, aliasing, banding, grain-structure inconsistency, and over- or under-sharpening against professional broadcast and theatrical delivery standards.
• Flag where AI-generated output diverges from the visual quality bar expected in feature film production or high-end episodic television finishing.
• Design and refine evaluation templates and rating guidelines so that quality assessment remains consistent across reviewers and holds up under edge cases.
• Translate pixel-level observations into clear, precise descriptive language suitable for data captions and structured evaluation documents.
• Generate your own visual samples for targeted testing and side-by-side comparison within the AI image workflow.
• Coordinate with other subject matter experts and program leads to maintain visual consistency across sequences and across the wider review team.

What You Bring

• Five or more years of professional experience in high-end visual evaluation within film, VFX, animation, or professional photography.
• Direct credits or verified professional experience in at least one of these disciplines: VFX Supervisor, Rendering Supervisor, Lighting Supervisor or Lead, Colorist, Director of Photography, Effects or Surfacing Artist, high-end Photographer, or Digital Projectionist.
• Reliable access to a 4K-resolution monitor capable of supporting genuine pixel-level evaluation work.
• Familiarity with AI tools and the ability to generate visual samples independently for comparison testing.
• Fluency in English with the ability to articulate complex visual observations in precise written language.
• Availability to work 20 hours per week with hours overlapping the PST to EST window.
