This role sits at the center of the organization’s post-production workflow, overseeing editorial output for two long-form media platforms covering youth resilience, housing justice, and community narratives in video podcast and short documentary formats. About the Role

The Managing Video Editor leads a small team of volunteer editors working across episodic video podcast production and short documentary editing, with finished deliverables going out to YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and podcast platforms. Day-to-day work moves between cutting your own episodes from raw interview footage and B-roll, reviewing team members’ cuts, and keeping the broader post-production pipeline organized and on schedule. This is editorial storytelling held to a high standard of care, not high-volume content assembly.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate a team of volunteer editors across the full post-production workflow, assigning episodes based on skill level and managing revision rounds through to final delivery.
• Cut video podcast episodes and short documentary pieces from raw interviews, B-roll, archival footage, and graphics, building narratives that hold audience attention across long-form runtimes.
• Edit and mix audio for podcast episodes to industry-standard loudness specifications, including -16 LUFS output, cleaning dialogue and layering music and sound design to support the story.
• Maintain project organization across shared media, including bin structure, naming conventions, and version control so multiple editors can work without stepping on each other.
• Source, license, and track royalty-free music, sound effects, and archival media, keeping accurate records of usage rights and attribution across all projects.
• Onboard new editors to Mentor A Promise’s editorial tone and technical standards, and serve as the primary resource for post-production questions across the team.

What You Bring

• Proven credits in video podcast production, short documentary editing, or episodic non-fiction post-production at a senior or lead level.
• Fluency in Premiere Pro or a comparable NLE, with working knowledge of color correction, motion graphics integration, and audio post-production tools.
• Experience building and maintaining post-production workflow systems across multi-editor projects, including version control and review processes.
• The editorial instinct to find and shape a story from unscripted interview material, not just assemble clips in sequence.
• Familiarity with platform delivery specs for YouTube Shorts, Instagram, TikTok, and podcast distribution channels.
