Disney is hiring a Content Producer for ESPN’s studio production division in Los Angeles, CA. This role sits inside the sports studio television workflow, responsible for developing and producing on-air segments, highlights, teases, and bumps for NBA, WNBA, and NFL programming across multiple broadcast and digital platforms. It suits an experienced sports television producer who knows how to lead a production team through live studio show execution from concept to air.
About the Role
This position works within ESPN’s studio show department, directly supporting marquee basketball and football programming that reaches national audiences. Day-to-day work includes overseeing the full production pipeline from pre-production meetings through final editorial review, managing APs, CAs, and PAs while coordinating talent, graphics, and edit teams. The role operates in a live television environment, which means adjusting content in real time as breaking news and shifting storylines demand.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a production team through the creation of highlights, teases, bumps, and segments for NBA, WNBA, and NFL studio programming, guiding story selection and editorial direction from pitch to air.
- Write and coordinate accurate shot sheets, scripts, and bump copy in alignment with each show’s editorial vision and timeline.
- Collaborate with on-air analysts, reporters, and guests to ensure their commentary integrates cleanly with the segment’s editorial structure.
- Oversee the edit room process, influencing pacing, shot selection, and sound choices to deliver content that meets broadcast quality standards.
- Manage scheduling and logistics for all content components including graphics, animations, talent bookings, and edit suite time.
- Train and mentor junior production staff on idea generation, edit room performance, and content accuracy across live sports television production.
What You Bring
- Minimum five years of progressively complex production experience with a concentration in sports content for broadcast or multi-platform television.
- Deep knowledge of the NBA and WNBA, with solid working knowledge of the NFL and broader sports news judgment.
- Demonstrated experience in live studio show production, including familiarity with control room operations and real-time editorial decisions.
- Proficiency with production technologies and equipment used across broadcast and digital sports content delivery.
- Proven ability to lead production staff and manage editorial output under live television pressure.
Why This Role
ESPN remains the largest sports television network in the country, and this position places a Content Producer directly inside programming that drives some of its highest-rated studio coverage. Disney’s production infrastructure offers access to resources, talent relationships, and multi-platform distribution that few sports television environments can match. For a producer looking to grow within live sports broadcasting, this is a role with genuine scope and visibility.
