Podcast Camera Operator
- Freelance
- Kingston Rd, Ontario, Canada
TLS
TLS is hiring a Podcast Camera Operator for recurring studio work out of their location on Kingston Road in Scarborough, Ontario. This role sits on the camera department side of podcast and interview production, responsible for multi-camera capture, audio monitoring, and media management across studio recording sessions. It suits a freelance videographer or camera operator with a solid background in podcast video production, interview filming, or single-location studio work who knows how to run a shoot independently.
About the Role
TLS is building a small roster of three to four camera operators to support a growing podcast studio, with work structured around recurring session bookings rather than one-off gigs. A typical session runs two to three hours and involves setting up a multi-camera configuration, operating and monitoring throughout the recording, and handing off properly organized media at wrap. This is freelance studio production work with a consistent schedule for operators who prove reliable.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate camera during live podcast recordings, maintaining clean framing and consistent exposure across the full session.
- Set up and monitor multiple camera angles before and during each studio recording, adjusting as needed without interrupting the talent.
- Record and monitor audio using professional wireless microphone systems, including RODE-level equipment, with attention to dialogue clarity and level consistency throughout.
- Manage SD cards and recording media across all camera bodies to ensure complete, properly captured footage with no dropped recordings.
- Confirm that all equipment, including batteries, storage, lenses, and audio kit, is session-ready before talent arrives.
- Deliver all recorded footage and media to the studio after each session, with clear communication on any issues that arose during the shoot.
What You Bring
- Previous experience in podcast video production, interview filming, event videography, or similar single-location studio formats.
- Ownership of at least one camera body capable of recording at 1080p or higher, with appropriate lenses for studio interview work.
- Hands-on comfort with professional wireless microphone systems and basic audio level monitoring in a recording environment.
- Enough personal storage capacity to handle a minimum of two hours of continuous multi-camera footage per session.
- Based in Toronto or the GTA, with reliable access to the Scarborough area for scheduled sessions.
Why This Role
TLS is offering recurring studio production work rather than one-off bookings, which means steady, predictable sessions for operators who fit the roster. The starting rate is $35 per hour, with the opportunity to increase based on performance and consistency over time. For a freelance camera operator looking to add reliable podcast studio work to their schedule, this is a straightforward path to a consistent client relationship.
Apply now for the Podcast Camera Operator position with TLS and include your equipment list, relevant credits, and availability to be considered for the roster.
