Job Position(s): Nuke Compositor / Motion Designer - Advertising
Project Type: Commercial
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: Paid - Salary

Rodeo FX is building a pipeline of Nuke Compositor / Motion Designer talent for its advertising division in Los Angeles, USA. This role sits within the post-production and VFX workflow for branded content, advertising, and experiential projects, where the artist delivers polished composites and animated graphic work from brief through final delivery. It suits a compositor who has grown comfortable crossing into motion design and 2D content creation without losing their technical footing in Nuke.

About the Role

The Rodeo FX advertising team works across a range of commercial and branded content productions, collaborating directly with Creative Directors, VFX Supervisors, and producers to execute creative briefs to spec. On a given day, this person might be integrating CG renders with live-action footage in the morning and adapting animated graphic elements for platform delivery in the afternoon. The VFX pipeline here demands someone who can move between compositing and motion design assignments without losing continuity or pace.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain Nuke scripts for 2D compositing work across advertising and branded content productions, including keying, rotoscoping, paint, cleanup, and colour grading tasks.
  • Integrate live-action footage, CG renders, and photographic assets into cohesive final images that hold up to broadcast and digital delivery standards.
  • Create and animate graphic elements including titles, typography, transitions, and screen graphics based on creative briefs and visual references.
  • Prepare and retouch visual assets in Photoshop and adapt deliverables across formats, durations, and platform specifications.
  • Participate in creative reviews, interpret client feedback accurately, and implement revisions within established production schedules.
  • Maintain organised project files, naming conventions, and version control practices consistent with the studio’s post-production workflow.

What You Bring

  • Demonstrable professional experience as a Nuke compositor, with credits across advertising, VFX, or commercial post-production work.
  • Strong working knowledge of Nuke for compositing, combined with practical motion design and animation skills.
  • Proficiency in Photoshop for asset preparation, retouching, and image manipulation within a production context.
  • Solid grasp of design fundamentals including composition, colour, timing, and typography as they apply to motion work.
  • Experience managing multiple assignments and iterations across a production schedule with shifting priorities.

Why This Role

Rodeo FX carries a strong reputation across VFX and post-production, and this advertising division brings that same level of craft to commercial and branded content work. This posting is an expression of interest rather than a confirmed opening, with initial work likely offered on a freelance or project-based basis and the possibility of longer-term contracts as production needs develop. For a compositor looking to keep one foot in Nuke and expand into motion design within a studio that takes advertising seriously, this is a credible next step.
