Key Responsibilities

• Create photo-realistic matte paintings for use in live-action plate extensions and fully built digital environments across VFX production.
• Apply 2.5D techniques to construct environments that integrate convincingly with photographed footage in the compositing stage.
• Reference real-world materials and surfaces to inform texture, lighting, and shading decisions that match on-set conditions.
• Work directly with modeling and shading teams to align look development so matte paintings sit correctly within the broader scene.
• Contribute to shot scheduling and flag technical requirements or constraints early to keep the post-production workflow on track.
• Ensure all delivered work meets the photographic and technical standards demanded by live-action VFX at a production level.

What You Bring

• A strong portfolio of photo-real matte painting work from feature film or high-end episodic television credits.
• Proficiency in Photoshop, Nuke, or equivalent tools used in a professional VFX pipeline environment.
• Solid understanding of light, perspective, and photographic reference as they apply to environment building.
• Experience working alongside compositing teams within a structured post-production workflow.
• Based in the UK, or holding the right to work in the UK, to be based at the London studio.
