Job Position(s): Artistes en animation - Contrats temporaires - Plusieurs postes
Project Type: Feature Film
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: Paid - Salary

Rodeo FX in Montreal is hiring Animation Artists for multiple temporary contracts across creature, character, and object animation. These roles sit within the animation department and are responsible for delivering hyper-realistic performances that meet the technical and creative standards of high-end VFX production. This is a fit for animators with a strong grasp of physical performance, acting, and the kind of stylistic range that feature film and episodic television work demands.

About the Role

Working under the Animation Lead and Supervisor, Animation Artists at Rodeo FX contribute directly to the creative output of live-action projects requiring photoreal creature and character work. Day to day, this means blocking and refining shots, addressing notes from supervision, and staying in close communication with rigging and technical teams to keep the animation pipeline moving. The role requires someone comfortable working independently while staying aligned with the broader production schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality character and creature animation that captures both naturalistic movement and stylized performance depending on the shot requirements.
  • Demonstrate technical fluency across multiple animation styles, from photoreal to cartoon, adapting to the creative direction of each project.
  • Refine performances through iterative feedback cycles, pushing the quality of each shot beyond the initial pass.
  • Ensure all animation output is technically clean, pipeline-compliant, and functions correctly across handoff to downstream departments.
  • Communicate clearly with other departments on creative and technical solutions, flagging schedule risks or bottlenecks to production and leads in a timely way.
  • Contribute to department-wide learning by sharing techniques, mentoring junior animators, and staying current with developments in animation tools and methodology.

What You Bring

  • Demonstrated experience in character or creature animation within a VFX studio or animation studio environment.
  • A reel that shows range across realistic and stylized performance, ideally including shots from feature film or long-form television productions.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard animation software and familiarity with production pipeline workflows.
  • The ability to take and apply detailed supervision notes quickly without losing the performance quality of a shot.
  • Experience collaborating with rigging teams to solve technical issues that arise during production.

Why This Role

Rodeo FX has built a reputation for creature and character work across major feature film and television productions, and these contracts place artists directly in that pipeline. Montreal remains one of the strongest markets for VFX work in North America, and the studio offers genuine exposure to high-profile project slates. For animators looking to build credits and refine their craft inside a structured, technically serious department, this is a real opportunity.

Apply now for the Animation Artist temporary contract positions at Rodeo FX and bring your reel to a team that takes performance seriously.
