About the Role

The Frontier AI & Robotics team builds foundation models for robotics intelligence, and this Member of Technical Staff – Simulation (Synthetic Data Generation) position is the engine behind the visual data those models learn from. Day to day, you are designing and running 3D asset pipelines, tuning rendering throughput, and working directly with researchers to make sure synthetic scenes meet the fidelity standards required for real-world deployment. Key Responsibilities

• Architect scalable 3D pipelines for synthetic data generation, ensuring output meets the volume and visual quality requirements of large-scale ML training workflows.
• Build procedural generation systems that produce diverse, physically accurate environments and variable object configurations without manual scene-by-scene authoring.
• Develop and maintain automated asset toolchains compatible with industry-standard formats including USD and OpenVDB.
• Optimize rendering performance and pipeline throughput to sustain the data volumes required for training foundation models at scale.
• Work alongside AI researchers to define synthetic data specifications and validate that sim-to-real transfer fidelity holds up under real-world conditions.
• Contribute to the full 3D production workflow from asset ingestion through final rendered dataset delivery, maintaining quality at every stage.

What You Bring

• Hands-on experience with game engine architecture, such as Unreal Engine or Unity, applied to simulation or synthetic data generation contexts.
• Proficiency with USD and OpenVDB pipelines as used in professional VFX or animation studio environments.
• A track record building procedural generation systems for complex, varied scene creation at scale.
• Experience optimizing rendering performance in production pipeline settings, not just prototype builds.
• Familiarity with the requirements of ML training datasets, including an understanding of how visual fidelity affects model generalization.
