Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: $83,000 - $106,000/year

FOX News Media is hiring a Field Producer for its Northeast Bureau, based in New York, New York. This role sits within the network’s newsgathering operation, where the Field Producer is responsible for breaking original stories, developing sources, and producing broadcast television journalism across FOX News Channel and its digital platforms. It is a role built for an experienced news producer who works the phones, builds contacts, and finds stories before anyone else does.

About the Role

The Field Producer works directly within FOX News Media’s bureau newsgathering team, contributing content to one of the most-watched cable news networks in the country, which reaches approximately 200 million viewers each month. Day to day, this means pitching and developing enterprise stories, heading into the field to cover breaking news events, and collaborating closely with on-air reporters to shape coverage across broadcast television and digital news formats. Assignments can move quickly, require travel on short notice, and extend for as long as a story demands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Pitch original story ideas with strong broadcast television potential, focusing on enterprise and investigative angles that other outlets are not yet covering.
  • Build and maintain a network of sources across the Northeast region to support original newsgathering and breaking news coverage.
  • Go into the field to cover live news events, conduct interviews, and gather all necessary elements for both television and digital news publication.
  • Provide editorial guidance to reporters in the region, helping shape story framing, sourcing, and on-camera presentation.
  • Develop and advance investigative storylines over time, following leads through to broadcast-ready journalism.
  • Work across platforms including linear cable broadcast and FOX News digital, adapting editorial output to fit each format.

What You Bring

  • Prior field producing experience in a broadcast television, digital news, or print environment.
  • Established local contacts in the Northeast that can support original newsgathering from day one.
  • Strong editorial judgment, with a track record of identifying and developing stories with real television value.
  • The ability to travel domestically or internationally on short notice and remain on location for extended periods.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends as breaking news requires.

Why This Role

FOX News Channel has ranked as the most-watched cable television news network for 20 consecutive years, and this bureau role puts a Field Producer at the center of that national newsgathering operation. The position comes with real editorial autonomy to develop original journalism rather than simply reacting to wire copy. The salary range for this role is $83,000 to $106,000 annually, with benefits including medical, dental, vision, a 401(k) plan, and paid time off.

Apply now for the Field Producer, Northeast Bureau role at FOX News Media and bring your newsgathering experience to one of cable television’s most prominent news operations.
