About the Role

This position works within Mikros Animation’s rigging department under the guidance of the Character Supervisor and Rigging Lead, contributing directly to the animation pipeline on an undisclosed feature project. Day to day, the work involves building and refining character rigs, coordinating with the animation team to make sure assets are usable at production speed, and proposing modifications to existing rig modules within the studio’s pipeline. Mikros has a track record in high-volume animated feature film production, and rigs built here are expected to hold up across a full production cycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Build high-quality full character rigs, including body and facial systems, that align with the film’s artistic direction and technical pipeline requirements.
• Work alongside the Rigging Lead to develop animation rigs that reflect the specific tone and style established for the production.
• Communicate directly with the animation team to ensure rigs are intuitive, performant, and suited to the demands of production.
• Propose and implement modifications to existing rig modules within the established animation pipeline, under Lead or Supervisor review.
• Contribute technical and visual problem-solving to production challenges as they arise during the feature film production schedule.
• Manage production issues actively while maintaining rig quality and meeting department deadlines.

What You Bring

• Several years of rigging experience on animated feature film production or high-end episodic animation, with shipped credits preferred.
• Solid command of Maya and familiarity with proprietary rigging tools and module-based animation pipeline workflows.
• Demonstrated ability to build both body mechanics rigs and facial rigs that meet animator usability standards.
• Experience working within a structured VFX pipeline and collaborating with character and animation departments across production.
• Ability to work in Montreal, Canada, either as a local hire or through relocation.
