Job Position(s): Senior Software Developer - Production Effort 3 Locations
Project Type: Feature Film
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: Paid - Salary

DNEG is hiring a Senior Software Developer to join their Production Technology, Core Services team across their India offices in Mumbai, Chennai, and Bengaluru. This role sits within the technical infrastructure that keeps VFX pipeline operations running across feature film and episodic television productions, building and maintaining the core software systems that production teams depend on daily. It suits a developer who has worked close enough to a VFX or post-production environment to understand what happens when the tools break mid-show.

About the Role

The Core Services team at DNEG sits beneath the visible work, providing the foundational software layer that supports artists, coordinators, and supervisors across active productions. On any given day, this Senior Software Developer is diagnosing pipeline bottlenecks, shipping new tooling, and working directly with department leads to understand what production workflow actually needs rather than what was specced months ago. DNEG’s slate spans major studio features and streaming series, so the systems this role touches are in constant, high-volume use.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain core software services that support VFX pipeline operations across multiple concurrent productions.
  • Work with production technology leads to translate on-set and post-production workflow requirements into scalable software solutions.
  • Own the full development lifecycle for assigned services, from architecture through deployment and ongoing support in a live production environment.
  • Identify and resolve performance issues in existing systems before they create downstream problems for artists or production teams.
  • Contribute to internal code reviews and uphold engineering standards across a team that ships tools used on studio-level feature film projects.
  • Document systems clearly enough that production coordinators and technical directors can understand dependencies without needing an engineer in the room.

What You Bring

  • Substantial experience as a software developer, with at least some of that time spent in a VFX studio, animation studio, or post-production technology environment.
  • Solid command of Python and one or more compiled languages commonly used in production pipeline development.
  • Familiarity with the realities of episodic television or feature film production schedules and the pressure they put on underlying software systems.
  • Experience building or supporting services that run in Linux-based studio infrastructure.
  • Ability to work across multiple India-based offices, with the communication skills to stay aligned with a globally distributed team.

Why This Role

DNEG is one of the most consistently credited VFX houses working in studio film today, with a production technology division that operates at genuine scale across international offices. The India teams are central to that operation, not peripheral to it, which means this Senior Software Developer role carries real responsibility from day one. For a developer who wants their work to matter to productions people actually watch, this is a credible place to build that career.

Apply now for the Senior Software Developer position at DNEG and put your production technology experience to work on projects that reach global audiences.
