Corporate Girl | Drama Comedy Short Film | Toronto, ON

Corporate Girl takes us through a day in the life of Isabel, an associate at a male-dominated investment bank. Upon Isabel’s arrival to the office, she learns that not a single potential buyer has put in a bid for a client they are selling. While the VP decides to give up on this project, and direct focus on acquiring new business, Isabel is determined to turn the project around. Motivated by ambition and curiosity, Isabel goes all-in over this 24 hour period with the hopes of a successful outcome.

The goal of the project was to showcase female ambition, drive, and vulnerability, as well as the various ups and (sometimes humourous) downs of a high-stress, high-risk day at the office. The film was written, directed, and produced by Ivana Strajin, founder of Integrity Pictures and strategist by day. The film is not based on a true story, but is inspired by experiences that many women (and men) face in toxic work environments.

The cast features new faces each bringing their unique talents to their characters. We have Kora Farley-Smith as our protagonist Isabel, Paroma Ganguly as Isabel’s mentor Brenda, Joe Perry as Isabel’s boss Michael, and Matt Larter as Isabel’s colleague Walter.

Director of Photography Jess Paquette beautifully captures the frigid and stark office environment, which our Gaffer Joe Craib transforms to reflect the passage of time from dusk until dawn. Picture Editor Nick White brings his critical eye influencing and refining the final cut.

Corporate Girl will be premiering as part of the NewFilmmakers Screening Series on April 18, 2018 at 7:15PM at the Anthology Film Archives in New York City.
