About the Role
This position reports to the Editorial Director and operates at the intersection of streaming news production and broadcast newsgathering, making it a key coordination point across multiple Paramount Global properties. Day to day, the WGA Producer is managing the coverage calendar, fielding input from domestic and international bureaus, and pre-producing special segments while staying ready to shift into breaking news coverage. The role covers both same-day programming decisions and longer-lead planning for major news events across the streaming network.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate with the assignment desk, booking team, show producers, and domestic and international bureau editors to plan day-to-day streaming news programming.
- Pitch and develop stories with strong potential for live video storytelling, including day-of-air segments, feature packages, and special coverage units.
- Build and maintain the streaming network’s news event and future coverage calendar, identifying key dates and logistical needs well in advance.
- Collaborate with digital reporters to develop original on-air segments grounded in their reporting, bridging digital and broadcast workflows.
- Gather and flag elements during breaking news events, communicating coverage plans to streaming and broadcast stakeholders in real time.
- Serve as a point of contact with Paramount Global partner properties and external news partners to align coverage strategy across platforms.
What You Bring
- Demonstrated experience as a producer in a live television news or streaming news environment, with credits across broadcast or episodic news production.
- Strong editorial judgment across domestic and international news, with the ability to identify and develop original story angles daily.
- Experience coordinating with field producers, correspondents, and camera teams in a live production workflow.
- Comfort working across streaming, network, and digital publishing units within a large media organization.
- This position is covered under the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the WGA-E.
