About the Role

The Volunteer Video Editor and Content Creator works within Young STEAMers’ communications operation, editing content that documents the nonprofit’s STEAM education programs across the San Francisco Bay Area. A typical week involves receiving raw footage and photos from recent events, cutting short-form videos for Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube, and delivering finished assets that meet the organization’s branding and privacy guidelines. This is a remote-first position with occasional opportunities to attend and shoot content at live program events.

Key Responsibilities

• Edit raw footage and photographs into short-form videos that communicate program impact across multiple social media platforms and digital content channels.
• Apply music, captions, transitions, motion graphics, and organizational branding to finished cuts in line with platform-specific format requirements.
• Adapt deliverables for different aspect ratios and audiences, from Instagram Reels to YouTube to presentation decks used in fundraising.
• Organize project files, manage your own post-production schedule, and hit agreed-upon delivery deadlines consistently.
• Incorporate notes from the Young STEAMers social media manager and revise cuts through feedback rounds.
• Follow all privacy, confidentiality, and media-use protocols, including strict guidelines around footage featuring minors.

What You Bring

• Basic hands-on experience with at least one editing platform, Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, CapCut, or Canva are all accepted.
• A portfolio of personal, academic, or volunteer projects that demonstrates your storytelling approach and editing sensibility.
• Ability to work independently in a remote post-production environment and communicate reliably with a small team.
• Comfort working with footage of children and a clear understanding of subject privacy in nonprofit media production.
