Job Position(s): Videographer/Editor
Project Type: Short Film
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: Paid - Salary

Brent Street is hiring a Videographer/Editor based in Sydney, New South Wales, to join their in-house content team. This role sits within the social media production workflow, covering everything from camera operation on the studio floor through to editing, colour grading, and sound design for multi-platform delivery. It suits a working shooter-editor with a background in performing arts or moving media who can read a room, move fast, and cut to music with genuine feel.

About the Role

This position reports to the Social Media and Content Manager and operates across Brent Street’s classes, live performances, and cultural events as the primary camera and post-production resource. The schedule runs Tuesday to Saturday, which reflects the rhythm of a performing arts environment rather than a standard office week. A typical day moves between handheld and gimbal shooting in studio, pulling selects, and turning edits for multiple social media platforms and formats.

Key Responsibilities

  • Film and direct video content across classes, events, and productions using DSLR cameras, handling exposure settings, frame rates, and recording formats to match each shoot’s requirements.
  • Operate gimbal and freehand in active, performance-based environments where subjects move unpredictably and timing is everything.
  • Edit and deliver social media content in Adobe Premiere Pro, resizing and reformatting for vertical, square, and widescreen placements across platforms.
  • Colour grade footage to a consistent on-brand standard and mix sound with musicality, keeping rhythm and pacing central to the edit.
  • Set up and manage lighting for both studio and on-location shoots, and capture photography alongside video where the content plan requires it.
  • Maintain organised folder structures and project file management across a shared database while juggling multiple shoots and edit deadlines simultaneously.

What You Bring

  • Demonstrated experience as a videographer and camera operator, with a portfolio that shows concepts carried through to polished social media production output.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, including colour grading and sound editing within a post-production workflow.
  • Confidence with DSLR camera systems, lenses, gimbal operation, and studio lighting setups.
  • A background in performing arts or moving media, with a genuine sense of musicality and rhythmic pacing in editing.
  • Experience publishing and formatting content across social media platforms, with an awareness of current trends in short-form video.

Why This Role

Brent Street is one of Australia’s most established performing arts training institutions, which means the content coming through this role has real creative range, from training footage to full performance production. The in-house structure gives a Videographer/Editor genuine ownership over the visual language of the brand rather than executing briefs handed down from an agency. Sydney-based creatives with a performing arts lens on their work will find the subject matter here genuinely engaging.

Submit your application for the Videographer/Editor role at Brent Street, and include a portfolio or work sample that demonstrates your shooting and editing range.
