Videographer
- Full Time
- Auckland City, Auckland, New zealand
The jam Unit
The Jam Unit is hiring a Videographer based in Auckland City, Auckland, New Zealand. This role sits at the production end of the camera department, responsible for capturing original footage across commercial and creative video projects from shoot through to deliverable. It suits a self-sufficient shooter who is comfortable owning the camera work on a project without a large crew around them.
About the Role
The Videographer at The Jam Unit works across branded content and video production, handling everything from pre-production prep to on-set capture. Typical days involve setting up and operating camera equipment, managing lighting for a range of environments, and working closely with the creative lead to deliver footage that holds up in post-production workflow. This is a hands-on production role with real ownership of the visual output.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate camera equipment across a range of shooting environments including studio and location-based video production.
- Plan and execute lighting setups that serve the brief and reduce turnaround time in post.
- Manage on-set audio capture, ensuring clean sound that does not require heavy remediation in the edit.
- Review and organise footage at wrap, maintaining a clear file structure that supports the post-production workflow.
- Communicate directly with directors or creative leads to interpret the brief and adjust coverage on the day.
- Operate and maintain production gear responsibly, flagging any technical issues before they affect the shoot schedule.
What You Bring
- Demonstrated experience as a Videographer across commercial, branded content, or short-form video production.
- Proficiency with industry-standard camera systems and a working knowledge of codecs, frame rates, and colour profiles.
- Competence in editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve for reviewing and cutting your own footage.
- A reel or portfolio that shows range across different production types and shooting conditions.
- Ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions on set without close supervision.
Why This Role
The Jam Unit is an Auckland-based production company offering a Videographer genuine variety across its project slate rather than locking you into a single content type. The company operates with a small, focused team, which means your work has direct impact and your input carries weight. For a Videographer looking to build a broad commercial production credit list in New Zealand, this is a practical next step.
Apply now for the Videographer role at The Jam Unit and bring your camera work to a production team that puts the footage first.
