VFX Supervisor – On-Site, Toronto
- Full Time
- Toronto, Canada
Mikros Animation
Mikros Animation is hiring a VFX Supervisor to join its Toronto studio on a full-time, on-site basis. This role sits at the creative and technical center of VFX production, with direct responsibility for the visual execution of feature film and premium episodic projects from pre-production through final delivery. It suits a senior supervisor with a proven track record on large-scale productions who can lead a floor as confidently as they can sit in a client review.
About the Role
The VFX Supervisor works across the full production lifecycle, collaborating closely with the VFX Producer and Executive Producer to shape methodology, manage scope, and drive quality across every sequence. On any given day, this person is reviewing shots, running feedback sessions with artists and supervisors, attending client calls, and making real-time decisions that affect both the creative output and the budget. The role also carries a meaningful mentorship responsibility, helping to build the kind of floor culture that retains strong artists and keeps a VFX pipeline running efficiently at scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the creative and technical strategy across assigned VFX projects, ensuring the client’s vision is carried consistently from turnover through final composited delivery.
- Conduct daily shot and asset reviews, providing direct feedback to artists and department supervisors to maintain quality and momentum across the production floor.
- Collaborate with the VFX Producer on project bids, resource planning, scheduling milestones, and ongoing budget oversight throughout the production timeline.
- Manage client relationships directly, presenting work in reviews, communicating on creative direction, and problem-solving when a sequence or approach needs to change.
- Attend on-set shoots for VFX sequences as required, covering plate photography, data capture, and live-action integration needs.
- Review post-mortem assessments after each project and ensure that workflow and process improvements are actually applied on the next show.
What You Bring
- Significant VFX supervision credits on feature film productions and/or high-end episodic television, with demonstrated ownership of complex sequences end to end.
- Deep fluency in VFX pipeline management, including shot tracking, vendor review processes, and cross-department production workflow.
- Experience presenting work directly to studio or network clients in a supervisory capacity, not just as a supporting attendee.
- Candidates based outside Canada are considered provided they are committed to relocating and working from the Toronto studio full-time.
- Strong mentorship experience with a track record of developing mid-level artists and supervisors into more senior roles.
Why This Role
Mikros Animation has built a reputation in high-end animation and visual effects production with credits spanning major studio features and premium episodic work, and this Toronto position puts the right candidate at the center of that slate. The role comes with real creative authority, a direct line to production leadership, and the kind of project scale that advances a senior supervisor’s career in a meaningful way. Toronto remains one of the strongest markets for post-production and VFX work in North America, and this studio has the infrastructure to support it.
Apply now for the VFX Supervisor position at Mikros Animation and bring your feature and episodic credits to a team built to do serious work.
