VFX Manager – SEA & Chinese Language
Netflix
Category
Job Type
Netflix is hiring a VFX Manager for Southeast Asia and Chinese Language content, based in Bangkok, Thailand. This role sits at the intersection of creative development and post-production workflow, overseeing VFX across a slate of series and films from early script stage through final delivery. It suits a senior VFX professional who has managed multi-vendor productions across the region and knows how to hold quality standards across complex, concurrent projects.
About the Role
This position sits within Netflix’s content and production organization, working directly alongside showrunners, directors, and post teams on SEA and Chinese-language productions at the series and feature film level. Day to day, that means reviewing bids, managing vendor relationships, giving creative and technical notes, and tracking show health across multiple titles at once. Virtual production workflows, including LED stages and real-time tools, are increasingly part of the job.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide VFX guidance during development, including script breakdowns, budget assessments, and pitch evaluations before production is greenlit.
- Oversee the full VFX pipeline across multiple productions, from bidding and scheduling through vendor delivery and final technical review.
- Evaluate and onboard regional VFX vendors and supervisors, mentoring emerging talent across Southeast Asian and Chinese-language markets.
- Lead the adoption of virtual production methodologies on applicable projects, including on-set visualization and real-time production tools.
- Track budget, throughput, and production health using data to flag risk and drive consistent output quality across the slate.
- Run training sessions and industry outreach to build VFX capacity in the region and strengthen Netflix’s presence in the local production ecosystem.
What You Bring
- 10 or more years of experience in VFX supervision, production management, or a senior VFX management role across episodic television, film, or high-end streaming.
- A track record of managing complex, multi-vendor VFX productions from pre-production through delivery.
- Direct experience working on productions in Southeast Asia and or Chinese-language markets.
- Strong working knowledge of CG, compositing, asset and shot pipelines, and on-set VFX supervision practices.
- Fluency in Mandarin, Thai, or Bahasa Indonesia is preferred alongside English.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted production workflows or other emerging VFX technologies is a meaningful plus.
Why This Role
Netflix is one of the few streaming platforms actively expanding its original content slate in Southeast Asia and Chinese-language markets, which means this role has direct influence over a growing volume of productions, not a legacy pipeline. The position carries genuine strategic weight, shaping vendor strategy, production methodology, and regional VFX standards at a time when that infrastructure is still being built. For a senior VFX professional with regional experience, this is a rare chance to define how the work gets done rather than inherit someone else’s system.
