Job Position(s): Unreal CG Supervisor
Project Type: TV Series
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: Paid - Salary

Atomic Cartoons is hiring an Unreal CG Supervisor in Vancouver to lead real-time 3D content through production on a new Unreal Engine animated series. This role sits at the intersection of technical pipeline and creative oversight, responsible for the full CG workflow from asset integration and shading to final real-time delivery. It suits a working supervisor with hands-on Unreal production credits who is equally comfortable giving notes on a lighting setup and debugging a performance bottleneck in the same afternoon.

About the Role

The Unreal CG Supervisor will work within Atomic Cartoons’ CG department, driving the real-time animation pipeline on an episodic production built entirely in Unreal Engine. Day to day, this means bridging traditional DCC tools like Maya with Unreal, overseeing scene setup and shader design, and keeping episodic progress aligned with delivery timelines. This is a production-facing position with direct client contact and cross-department responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain real-time and hybrid VFX pipeline workflows connecting DCC tools such as Maya to Unreal Engine across an episodic animation production.
  • Oversee scene setup, complex material and shader design, and advanced real-time lighting techniques, including evaluation of external plugins and scripts.
  • Build and deploy Unreal Blueprints to create custom tools and efficient workflows that serve the specific demands of the production.
  • Profile, debug, and troubleshoot scenes to hold performance budgets and maintain high framerates throughout the real-time delivery pipeline.
  • Monitor episodic output and delivery timelines, flagging technical or scheduling risks to relevant stakeholders before they affect production.
  • Work directly with the client to define the project’s creative and technical scope, communicating Atomic Cartoons’ capabilities across both areas.

What You Bring

  • Prior credit as a CG Supervisor on an animated series or feature using Unreal Engine as the primary production tool.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Unreal Engine, including rendering, shading, sequencing, and Blueprints.
  • Experience in a senior or supervisory capacity across at least one other CG department is a strong asset.
  • Proven ability to develop technical solutions in collaboration with show TDs and pipeline support teams on episodic schedules.

Why This Role

Atomic Cartoons is a B Corp certified animation studio with an established track record across major IP including LEGO, Star Wars, and CoComelon, as well as original productions like The Last Kids on Earth. The studio’s artist-driven culture and its growing slate of real-time animation productions make this a meaningful step for a CG Supervisor looking to work at the leading edge of episodic Unreal production in Vancouver.

Apply now for the Unreal CG Supervisor position at Atomic Cartoons and bring your real-time pipeline experience to a studio that builds things worth watching.
