Job Type
AMEWAS is hiring a Technical Training Specialist (Training Team-Video Editor)-Journeyman to work on-site at Patuxent River, MD, supporting defense simulation and warfighter training programs. This role sits within the Simulation Support Branch’s Training Team, where the primary output is scripted, edited, and finalized training video content built around complex military simulation systems. It’s a strong fit for a video editor with a post-production workflow background who can translate dense technical subject matter into clear, structured instructional media.
About the Role
The Training Team operates inside an eleven-team government organization focused on live, virtual, and constructive simulation environments for DoD agencies and international partners. Day-to-day work moves between the edit suite and direct coordination with software engineers and subject matter experts, making this less of a pure post role and more of a full production workflow position. You’ll own projects from storyboard through final delivery while also keeping instructor-led training sessions running on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, script, storyboard, and edit training videos using Adobe Premiere Pro as the primary non-linear editing platform, with After Effects and Audition used for motion graphics and audio post-production work.
- Partner directly with subject matter experts and software engineers during pre-production to develop accurate, audience-appropriate scripts and visual narratives.
- Record and edit voiceover tracks, applying audio cleanup techniques to produce clean, broadcast-quality narration for finished training deliverables.
- Coordinate bi-weekly internal training sessions by identifying knowledge gaps across engineering and support teams, sourcing instructors, and managing scheduling logistics.
- Administer instructor-led training programs end-to-end, including registration, roster management, course material updates, post-session surveys, and certificate generation.
- Monitor and respond to help desk inquiries by tracking open RFIs and maintaining clear written communication with students and customers through the full resolution cycle.
What You Bring
- Three years of professional video editing experience with demonstrated advanced proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro as a required qualification.
- A Bachelor’s degree in a technical, scientific, or business field, or equivalent experience combinations as defined by the position requirements.
- A proven ability to simplify technical topics through instructional video production, including storyboarding and scripting for non-broadcast training media.
- A current or obtainable DoD Top Secret Clearance, which is required upon onboarding and is a non-negotiable condition of employment.
- Proficiency across Microsoft Office tools including Outlook, Word, Teams, and PowerPoint, used daily alongside Adobe Creative Suite for documentation and coordination.
Why This Role
AMEWAS supports government-owned simulation programs that directly affect military readiness, which means the training content produced here carries real operational weight rather than serving a purely internal corporate function. The salary range for this Technical Training Specialist (Training Team-Video Editor)-Journeyman position is $78,200.00 to $112,400.00, commensurate with experience. This is an on-site position with no remote option, based in Patuxent River, MD, a region that ranks as Maryland’s top market for high-tech employment.
Apply now to bring your post-production workflow skills to the Technical Training Specialist (Training Team-Video Editor)-Journeyman role at AMEWAS.
