Job Description

We are seeking a supporting actor to portray Mr. Derderian, a supporting character in a feature film production set in Canada. Mr. Derderian is an Iranian-Armenian antique shop clerk who serves as a subtle emotional anchor throughout the story, appearing in multiple seasonal moments as the protagonist adjusts to life in a new country.

The character is warm, grounded, and quietly humorous, with a sense of lived history and emotional depth. Through simple conversations in his antique shop, he becomes an unexpected source of guidance and perspective for the lead character. His presence functions as a recurring touchpoint across the narrative, reflecting change, memory, and cultural continuity.

The role requires strong character work, subtle emotional performance, and the ability to convey depth through naturalistic dialogue and presence rather than overt dramatization.

Key Responsibilities

• Portray a recurring supporting character in scripted film scenes
• Perform dialogue in a natural, grounded, and emotionally subtle style
• Participate in scenes set in a single primary location (antique shop environment)
• Collaborate with director and cast to maintain consistent character continuity across multiple shoot days
• Bring authenticity and depth to a culturally specific character within a Canadian immigrant narrative
• Maintain continuity of character development across seasonal story segments

Requirements

• Male
• Age 60 and above
• 5+ years of acting experience in film, theatre, or television (preferred)
• Ability to deliver naturalistic, emotionally restrained performances
• Strong understanding of character-driven storytelling
• Comfort performing in dialogue-heavy, intimate scenes
• Ability to work with small children as young as 10 years old
• Ability to take direction and adapt performance across multiple shooting periods
• Armenian/Farsi language skills or familiarity with Armenian/Iranian cultural background

Additional Information

• This is a supporting role in a feature film production
• Filming will take place in Toronto, Canada
• Schedule will be arranged in advance across 2 shoot days
• Professional on-set experience preferred but not required for strong performers

Pay: $250.00-$750.00 per day
