Project Type: Film & Television
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: $95,500 - $128,000/year

Disney is hiring a Senior Sound Designer based in Glendale, CA, joining the Disney Digital Entertainment team on a new interactive entertainment project. This role sits squarely in the game audio pipeline, covering everything from sound effects design and ambience creation to cinematic audio implementation and in-game mixing across multiple genres. It is best suited to a seasoned game audio professional with shipped titles and real hands-on experience in interactive audio systems.

About the Role

The Senior Sound Designer reports to the Audio Lead and works within a multidisciplinary development team building next-generation interactive experiences drawing from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and 20th Century properties. Day-to-day work spans designing and implementing audio assets, mixing in-game audio for clarity and emotional impact, and troubleshooting implementation issues across the game audio pipeline. This is a production-active role, not a supervisory one, with direct involvement in playtests, iteration cycles, and cross-discipline debugging.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, edit, and implement sound effects, ambiences, and cinematic audio across a range of interactive genres using Unreal Engine and UEFN.
  • Integrate interactive audio using middleware tools including Wwise and FMOD, as well as proprietary studio pipelines.
  • Mix and balance in-game audio to serve gameplay readability, narrative pacing, and player immersion across target platforms.
  • Partner with the Audio Lead to shape and execute the project’s overall audio aesthetic from pre-production through final polish.
  • Troubleshoot complex technical and implementation issues in collaboration with engineering, design, and animation departments.
  • Participate in playtests and iteration sessions to verify audio functionality and quality at a production level.

What You Bring

  • Six or more years of professional game audio experience, including at least two shipped titles credited as Senior Sound Designer or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated expertise implementing interactive audio in Unreal Engine with Wwise and FMOD.
  • Strong sound editing, mixing, and audio asset creation skills built across multiple game genres.
  • Familiarity with UEFN is a plus, as is experience composing or producing original music for interactive media.
  • A demo reel or online portfolio showing sound design and technical audio work is required with your application.

Why This Role

Disney’s interactive entertainment division is building original game experiences tied to some of the most recognized IP in the industry, which means the audio work here carries real creative weight and production scale. The hiring range for this remote-eligible position is $95,500 to $128,000 per year, with additional bonus and long-term incentive units possible depending on qualifications and geography. For a Senior Sound Designer looking to work at the intersection of game audio production and major studio IP, this is a substantive credit.
