Framestore Limited is hiring a Senior/Mid Compositor with deep Nuke expertise for their high-end VFX facility in Central London. This role sits within the compositing department, where the work involves integrating 2D, 3D, and live-action elements into finished shots for feature film visual effects productions. It is a strong fit for a compositor who is comfortable owning shots end to end and working within a structured VFX pipeline alongside leads and supervisors.
About the Role
Framestore is a long-established name in high-end film VFX, with a track record across major studio features and prestige productions. As a Senior/Mid Compositor, you will be working directly with Compositing Leads and Supervisors to deliver shots that meet both creative intent and technical specifications. A typical day moves between refining comp work in Nuke, addressing notes from supervisors, and keeping Production informed on shot status and scheduling.
Key Responsibilities
- Composite 2D, 3D, and live-action elements in Nuke to produce finished shots that meet the creative and technical brief set by the VFX Supervisor.
- Work within the established VFX pipeline to ensure all deliverables meet quality standards and are handed off correctly at each stage of the post-production workflow.
- Manage your own shot schedule and communicate clearly with Production when timelines need to be flagged or adjusted.
- Interpret and action supervisor notes efficiently, balancing creative adjustments with the technical constraints of each shot.
- Maintain consistent communication with Compositing Leads throughout the life of each shot, raising technical or creative issues before they become problems.
- Contribute to a consistent look across sequences by aligning your comp work with established show references and colour pipelines.
What You Bring
- Proven compositing credits on feature film productions at a senior or mid level, with a reel that demonstrates complex comp work.
- Expert-level proficiency in Nuke, with a thorough understanding of node-based compositing and VFX pipeline integration.
- Solid grasp of CG integration, including light matching, colour grading, and working with rendered passes from 3D departments.
- Experience reading and interpreting VFX briefs and translating supervisor notes into finished comp work under production schedules.
- Familiarity with colour science and how it applies to high-end film visual effects delivery.
