This role sits within the DLE Art Studio and is responsible for developing and executing scenic and environmental designs across live entertainment productions including stage shows, parades, character greeting environments, and large-scale spectaculars at Disney theme parks and resort properties. About the Role

The DLE Art Studio functions as the creative engine behind some of the most visible live entertainment productions in the themed entertainment industry, working across Disney parks, cruise ships, and resort hotels worldwide. The Senior Art Director works alongside Show Directors, Technical Directors, Producers, and WDI partners to develop design intent from concept through final installation. Day to day, this means producing five-view detailed drawings, color elevations, materials selections, and scenic art designs while managing vendor relationships and conducting show quality evaluations in the field.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute scenic and environmental design intent for original and adapted live entertainment concepts, including character environments, parade floats, and large-scale stage productions.
• Produce design intent drawings, five-view detailed drawings, color call-outs, and color elevations that production teams and vendors use to build and install scenic elements.
• Provide on-site art direction to scenic vendors, ensuring final fabricated product meets established design standards and Disney quality requirements.
• Lead and guide graphic artists, concept artists, and illustrators across multiple concurrent themed entertainment projects at varying stages of development.
• Contribute to Art Studio budgets by providing input on element costs and labor estimates tied to specific design scopes.
• Conduct ongoing show quality evaluations of existing live entertainment offerings to identify design drift and maintain original production intent.

What You Bring

• Seven or more years of experience in the theatrical scenic design or themed entertainment industry, working across show development and production.
• Demonstrated credits across live entertainment production formats, including stage shows, spectaculars, or large-scale themed environment builds.
• Proficiency in producing construction-ready design documentation, including detailed drawings and color specifications suitable for scenic vendor use.
• Experience managing vendors and external fabricators within a live production or themed entertainment pipeline.
• Familiarity with visual and graphic trends in scenic design and the ability to apply current research to original design concepts.
