About the Role

The Senior Animation Artist works directly under an Animation Supervisor and Lead, contributing to shots from blocking through final polish within an established VFX pipeline. On a given day, that means interpreting creative briefs, presenting work in dailies, troubleshooting rig or scene issues, and turning notes around on a production schedule. The role spans multiple projects, so adaptability across animation contexts is part of the job, not a bonus.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver final-quality animation across creatures, characters, and mechanical assets, meeting both the creative intent and the technical specifications required for downstream departments.
• Apply core animation principles, including timing, weight, arcs, and posing, across varying performance styles from hyper-realistic creature work to stylized character animation.
• Interpret direction and reference materials to build nuanced performances that serve the story of each shot, proposing motion choices where appropriate.
• Maintain clean, export-ready scene files according to pipeline naming conventions and file structure standards.
• Anticipate and flag rigging or scene-level technical problems early, working with technical departments to resolve them before they affect the production schedule.
• Participate actively in dailies and review sessions, presenting work clearly and integrating feedback in a way that lifts the overall quality of the shot.

What You Bring

• Several years of professional experience as an animator at a VFX or animation studio, with credits on feature film or episodic television preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to animate across multiple asset types including photoreal creatures, props, and character performance.
• Strong working knowledge of Maya, with familiarity in reading and working within a structured animation pipeline.
• A reel that shows range in timing, weight, and emotion rather than a single performance style.
• The ability to give realistic time estimates and communicate delays or blockers to production before they become problems.
