Producer

Paramount is hiring a Producer for KPIX, the CBS owned-and-operated television station serving the Bay Area, based in San Francisco. This role sits inside the news department, where the Producer owns the editorial shape and production execution of daily newscasts across broadcast and digital platforms. It suits a seasoned broadcast journalist who is comfortable running a control room and has strong opinions about how stories should be told.

About the Role

KPIX operates within the CBS News and Stations division, which covers 28 owned stations across 17 major U.S. markets, giving this Producer access to national resources while working a local news beat. Day-to-day, this person is selecting and sequencing stories, writing and editing copy, coordinating with anchors and field reporters, and making real-time editorial calls during live broadcast television production. There is a clear digital mandate here, with the station pushing toward digital-first content across streaming and online platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Originate, research, write, and produce news segments for both broadcast television and digital distribution, maintaining editorial standards across every format.
• Make live editorial decisions from inside the control room, including story order, timing, and last-minute changes during broadcast news production.
• Work directly with anchors, reporters, photographers, and editors to develop and refine segments from assignment through air.
• Identify new approaches to storytelling that connect with the Bay Area audience across traditional broadcast and streaming platforms.
• Ensure all copy meets grammar, accuracy, and style standards before it reaches the teleprompter or goes live on digital channels.
• Drive the station’s growth in digital video production, applying working knowledge of online content management and streaming delivery.

What You Bring

• A minimum of five years of experience in broadcast or cable news production.
• Hands-on experience with iNEWS, ENPS, or a comparable newsroom computer system used in television news workflow.
• Familiarity with video editing systems and digital video production techniques.
• Working knowledge of streaming platforms and online content management tools.
• A bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in broadcast journalism or a related field.
