The Role:

Creative Vision & Technical Mastery

As a Principal VFX Artist, your canvas spans from the sub-atomic to the cosmic. Your daily work will dictate how players experience the visceral reality of a living, breathing sci-fi universe.

You will lead the charge on creating high-impact, awe-inspiring real-time effects. One day, you might be designing the terrifying grandeur of an epic capital ship battle unfolding inside a swirling, volatile gas cloud. The next, you could be simulating the punishing atmospheric physics of a hostile planet, where characters visibly struggle against raging ice storms.

Your versatility will take you from crafting intricate, high-tech holographic displays in bustling futuristic metropolises to rendering the delicate, floating dust motes that catch the light in a desolate, forgotten rim-world outpost.

You aren’t just creating assets; you are defining the atmosphere, tension, and immersion of a universe.

  • Drive Visual Excellence: Own the end-to-end creation of ambitious, cutting-edge sci-fi VFX using CIG’s proprietary real-time VFX Editor.
  • Establish the Standard: Act as the primary visual benchmark for the VFX department, demonstrating what is possible and inspiring the broader team to reach those heights.
  • Asset Generation: Utilize industry-standard tools—including 3DS Max, Houdini, Embergen, and After Effects
    —to author pristine textures, complex fluid simulations, and optimized mesh assets.

2. Technical Leadership & Pipeline Innovation

  • Optimize Without Compromise: Author and execute sophisticated performance optimization strategies. Ensure that breathtaking visual fidelity never compromises smooth, real-time gameplay performance across a massive, seamless universe.
  • Shape Tomorrow’s Tools: Act as the leading technical voice for the VFX discipline. Partner directly with dedicated VFX Programmers to co-author tools, refine pipelines, and pioneer new rendering techniques.
  • Workflow Evolution: Continuously evaluate and evolve internal workflows, establishing robust pipeline standards that scale effectively across a massive global studio.

3. Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration & Mentorship

  • Unified Creative Vision: Work as a strategic creative partner alongside the Art, Design, Narrative, and Audio teams to ensure visual effects are seamlessly integrated into gameplay, lore, and soundscapes.
