Sony Pictures Entertainment is hiring a Manager, TV Distribution, China to be based in Beijing. This role sits within the SPT China TV Distribution team, where the primary output is closing content licensing deals across all media platforms, covering feature films, TV series, anime, and scripted and non-scripted formats for the China and Mongolia markets. It suits a dealmaker with deep roots in the China media landscape who knows how to move content through both linear television and digital streaming channels.
About the Role
The Manager, TV Distribution, China reports to the Head of Distribution, China and operates within one of the largest content libraries in the television distribution business. Day-to-day work revolves around the full content licensing cycle, from deal modeling and commercial negotiations through to contract execution and ongoing client management. This person also feeds into annual sales forecasting and budget planning alongside Sales Planning and Finance teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute content sales and distribution strategy across all media platforms in China and Mongolia, covering the full SPT portfolio including feature films, episodic television, anime, and format rights.
- Manage the end-to-end content licensing process, including deal valuation, commercial negotiation, internal approvals, and post-deal client management.
- Identify new distribution channels and partnership opportunities that generate incremental revenue for SPT’s content portfolio in the region.
- Work with the Marketing team to develop and implement promotional campaigns that support content performance on client platforms.
- Monitor and analyze sales performance data with Sales Planning and Research teams to optimize performance-based revenue streams.
- Explore opportunities to acquire local productions for international distribution, adding to SPT’s content pipeline beyond its existing library.
What You Bring
- A minimum of five years of experience in content sales, content acquisition, or account management within the entertainment and media industry.
- A proven track record structuring and negotiating content licensing agreements across digital streaming platforms and linear television.
- Strong working knowledge of the China media landscape, including its regulatory environment and evolving streaming market.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel for financial modeling and data analysis, plus fluency across PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
- Native Mandarin speaker with full professional proficiency in written and spoken English.
- A bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, Media, or a related field, along with valid immigration permission to work and reside in Beijing.
