This role sits within the original content development team, responsible for identifying, commissioning, and shepherding scripted and non-fiction series from pitch through to delivery. It suits a mid-to-senior development executive with a track record of managing production partners and building a commissioning slate in episodic television or streaming originals.

About the Role

The Manager, Original Content works across the full development pipeline, from sourcing new ideas with agents and creators to overseeing commissioned projects through production and post. Day-to-day, this person is in the room on creative decisions, budget conversations, and cross-departmental planning with legal, finance, marketing, and programming teams. The role carries executive producer responsibility across select titles, meaning you are accountable for the editorial quality of what goes out under the Amazon MGM Studios name.

Key Responsibilities

• Source and develop original content opportunities by maintaining active relationships with agents, producers, writers, and IP owners across the UK market.
• Produce commissioning assessments for incoming projects, evaluating creative quality, audience fit, and alignment with the broader content strategy.
• Negotiate and shape contract terms and production budgets in close coordination with legal and finance stakeholders.
• Manage commissioning roadmaps across the slate, tracking project milestones and keeping all relevant departments aligned on deliverables and timelines.
• Provide hands-on editorial and script development notes to production partners across both in-house and third-party projects.
• Conduct post-production reviews, including audio and picture, and advise on talent selection to maintain creative standards through delivery.

What You Bring

• Demonstrated experience in a development or commissioning role at a broadcaster, streamer, or independent production company working in episodic television or streaming originals.
• A working knowledge of UK production financing structures, development agreements, and co-production models.
• A credited background as an executive producer or senior development executive on delivered titles.
• Strong editorial instincts across non-fiction and limited series formats, with experience guiding scripts and talent through development.
• Comfort operating across multiple projects simultaneously, with clear experience managing slate-level planning and stakeholder communication.
