Job Type
Crave and Redcloud Studios Inc, in partnership with Frantic Films, are casting two series lead roles for I Can’t Save You, an episodic television production filming in Winnipeg, Manitoba from early October to mid-November 2026. These are lead acting roles for young talent, anchoring an Indigenous-led dramedy series developed for Canadian television. The roles suit young Canadian performers ready to carry a season-long arc on a union production with substantive creative material.
About the Role
I Can’t Save You is casting for two series leads: Both roles are under a three-year option, meaning the selected performers will be attached to the series through potential future seasons. The production is a Crave original, written and executive produced by Jennifer Podemski and Amber-Sekowan Daniels, alongside a team that includes Meg MacKay, Tim Fontaine, Sally Karam, Stephanie Fast, Jamie Brown, and Andre Czernohorsky.
Key Responsibilities
- River carries the emotional through-line of the season as the youngest child navigating growing independence while managing a fraught relationship with his father, Leonard.
- Sage drives a parallel storyline rooted in Indigenous identity, responding to being called a “Pretendian” at school by pursuing a personal investigation into her family history.
- Both leads will work across multiple episodic television production blocks during the Winnipeg shoot window.
- River performers must hold the chemistry dynamic with a peer character named Carter, which is central to the season’s narrative structure.
- Sage performers must sustain a complex mother-daughter relationship across the arc, requiring range across conflict and alliance within a single ongoing character relationship.
- Both roles require availability for self-tape auditions upon selection, with callback dates to be confirmed by Larissa Mair Casting and Associates.
What You Bring
- Anishinaabe heritage is required for both roles, as confirmed in the casting breakdown.
- Canadian citizenship is mandatory, and talent must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
- ACTRA members are preferred, though non-union performers may also submit for consideration.
- Prior episodic television or film credits are an asset but not specified as a requirement in the breakdown.
Why This Role
Crave is one of Canada’s primary English-language streaming platforms, and a series lead credit on a Crave original carries real career weight within the Canadian television industry. Compensation is set at ACTRA scale with a 50 percent buyout, and the three-year option attached to both roles reflects the production’s long-term commitment to the performers cast. Redcloud Studios Inc and Frantic Films have an established track record in Indigenous-led Canadian content, making I Can’t Save You a production with both cultural and industry significance.
Submissions for I Can’t Save You close June 10, 2026 at 6:00 PM EST. Canadian talent meeting the breakdown requirements should apply through FilmLocal now.
