About the Role

The Freelance Production Assistant works directly within the FOX News Audio team, supporting hourly newscasts and correspondent-driven radio production. Scheduling is news-driven, meaning overnights, weekends, and holidays are part of the rotation.

Key Responsibilities

• Select and edit audio clips from live news feeds to meet broadcast timing requirements for radio production.
• Write copy and scripts to accompany edited audio clips, matching the editorial voice of FOX News Audio programming.
• Edit and process correspondent reports, trimming and formatting for timing accuracy before they hit the rundown.
• Coordinate with anchors to load audio elements into the hourly newscast rundown ahead of broadcast.
• Work alongside editors to move content through the audio post-production workflow under deadline pressure.

What You Bring

• A bachelor’s degree in broadcasting, journalism, or communications, or equivalent hands-on experience in audio or radio production.
• Prior internship credits in radio, television, or online journalism are required for this role to be a realistic fit.
• Working knowledge of iNews, ENCO, and Adobe Audition is a meaningful advantage coming into this position.
• A solid grasp of both the technical and editorial sides of radio and multimedia production workflows.
• Demonstrated awareness of current events and the ability to make quick, accurate editorial calls on news content.
