Framestore is hiring a Freelance Layout / Tracking TD to join their New York team for a project running from approximately October 2026 through February 2027. This role sits within the VFX pipeline at the stage where raw live-action plates get transformed into workable 3D scene data, feeding directly into animation, lighting, and FX departments. It suits a technically grounded artist who is comfortable solving both creative and procedural problems in a high-volume VFX production environment.

About the Role

The Layout / Tracking TD works at the foundation of the VFX pipeline, responsible for building and maintaining the 3D scene infrastructure that every downstream department depends on. Day to day, that means camera tracking, LIDAR and photogrammetry ingestion, and integrating vendor-supplied assets into a clean, continuous scene. The position is primarily remote within the USA, with hybrid work encouraged and occasional on-site availability at the New York office required.

Key Responsibilities

• Track camera footage and on-set objects to accurately integrate CG elements into live-action plates across a feature film or episodic television VFX pipeline.
• Process and ingest environmental reference data including LIDAR scans and photogrammetry captures to establish accurate scene geometry.
• Prepare and integrate assets from external vendors, including cameras, body tracks, and proxy geometry, ensuring they meet production standards before handoff.
• Maintain continuity of scale and spatial accuracy across full sequences, not just individual shots.
• Work directly with supervisors to execute the intended camera language and staging within the 3D scene layout.
• Rework, rerack, or stitch cameras as needed and augment scene layouts to solve creative or technical problems in post-production workflow.

What You Bring

• Demonstrated experience as a Layout or Tracking TD on high-end VFX productions, including feature film or streaming episodic credits.
• Proficiency with industry-standard camera tracking and layout tools used in professional VFX pipelines.
• Hands-on experience processing LIDAR and photogrammetry data for scene reconstruction.
• Ability to work with vendor-supplied assets and translate them cleanly into a production pipeline.
• Valid US work authorization at time of hire, with New York area availability preferred for hybrid flexibility.
