Interns work alongside producers during live breaking news coverage, contributing to the editorial and technical output of a streaming news broadcast that covers politics, business, health, and culture. A typical day involves a mix of production support tasks across pre-production research, live broadcast assistance, and post-segment wrap work.

Key Responsibilities

• Log and transcribe footage and interviews during breaking news coverage, feeding usable material into the live broadcast news production pipeline.
• Assist producers with graphics preparation and on-screen element coordination ahead of and during live segments.
• Research and pitch story ideas relevant to the daily news cycle across politics, weather, business, and lifestyle verticals.
• Edit video content using AVID or comparable editing software to support segment production turnaround.
• Run scripts and operate the teleprompter during live broadcasts, requiring accuracy and composure under real air conditions.
• Shadow producers in the control room and assist on set during filming, gaining direct exposure to live television news workflow.

What You Bring

• Current enrollment in an accredited college or university, junior or senior year preferred, with coursework in Journalism, Communications, Media Studies, or Film and Television.
• Familiarity with AVID or similar video editing software from academic or previous internship work in broadcast or television production.
• Prior experience in broadcast news, print journalism, or television news script writing is a plus.
• Comfort working in a live news environment where priorities shift quickly and multiple production tasks run concurrently.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience conducting research and presenting findings in a production context.
