CG Supervisor

About the Role

The CG Supervisor works directly under the VFX Supervisor, translating the director’s creative vision into technically executable plans across departments including lighting, FX, and rendering. On any given day, this person is reviewing shots, troubleshooting VFX pipeline issues, running lighting team meetings, and keeping production and department supervisors aligned on progress and priorities. The role carries accountability for on-time, on-budget delivery across the majority of technical pipeline outputs on a given show.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct show leads and artists across the CG pipeline to maintain creative quality, technical consistency, and production continuity throughout the run of a show.
• Determine technical approaches required to achieve the desired look and behavior of production assets within the established VFX pipeline.
• Lead the development of flexible CG workflows tailored to each production, incorporating both existing tools and newly developed solutions to meet the creative brief.
• Run the lighting team through regular meetings focused on shot progress, quality feedback, and resolving technical or creative blockers before they affect delivery.
• Represent the CG department confidently in internal reviews and client-facing sessions, communicating progress and solutions across technology, creative, and production management.
• Flag crewing needs to production management, assist with recruitment when required, and mentor artists to support their development and retention.

What You Bring

• A minimum of 10 years of industry experience working within a VFX or animation studio pipeline, with credits on feature film or high-end animation productions.
• Demonstrated experience supervising CG departments including lighting teams in a production environment.
• Deep familiarity with industry-standard VFX pipeline tools, rendering workflows, and show setup processes across production types.
• Strong communication skills built across cross-departmental production environments, including technology, creative, and production management teams.
