Actor / Interpreter – March of the Red Coat & NWMP Recruitment Experience
Seasonal | May–August | 14–40 hours per week

The Fort Museum of the NWMP and First Nations Interpretive Centre is seeking energetic and engaging individuals to bring history to life through our March of the Red Coat School Program and our immersive “Answer the Call: NWMP Recruitment Experience” Barracks Tour.

This role combines performance, storytelling, and visitor interaction, offering a unique opportunity to step into the past and help others experience it.

What You’ll Do:

  • Perform in the March of the Red Coat school program (May–June)
  • Portray historical characters in the NWMP Recruitment Experience (Barracks Tour)
  • Deliver interactive, engaging, and educational performances for visitors of all ages
  • Support daily operations when not scheduled for performances, including:
  • Assisting with tours and interpretive programs
  • Working in the Trading Post (gift shop)
  • Enhancing the overall visitor experience across the site
  • Contribute to other summer programming opportunities, including Musical Ride commentary

Requirements:

  • Interest in history, storytelling, and public engagement
  • Acting or performance experience is an asset, but not required
  • Confidence speaking in front of groups
  • Willingness to portray a variety of historical roles, including those outside your own gender identity when required for minor parts
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and flexible hours
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn
