About the Role

The Final Layout Supervisor works directly alongside the Head of Cinematography, Layout to align the team’s output with the creative vision of the filmmakers across all stages of the feature animation production pipeline. Day to day, this means reviewing shots, maintaining the final layout breakdown list, managing naming conventions, and QCing deliverables before they move further down the pipeline. Key Responsibilities

• Supervise the final layout pipeline across shot finaling, set dressing, shot conform, and post-animation camera work, ensuring all output meets the creative and technical standards set by the filmmakers.
• Own and maintain the final layout breakdown list, enforcing naming conventions and pipeline compliance across the department’s deliverables.
• Review and QC work from the final layout team, providing clear and specific feedback that addresses both creative intent and downstream production requirements.
• Identify and resolve technical or creative bottlenecks in the feature animation pipeline, developing solutions that support lighting, effects, and other departments receiving final layout output.
• Communicate shot statuses, deadlines, and production risks to the Head of Cinematography, Layout and production management with enough lead time to course-correct.
• Mentor artists within the final layout team, supporting their development and addressing performance expectations directly when needed.

What You Bring

• Significant experience in layout, final layout, or previs roles within feature animation, VFX production, or high-end episodic television, with prior lead or supervisory credits.
• A strong reel that demonstrates camera work, staging, composition, set dressing, and sequence continuity at a professional production level.
• Proficiency in Maya as a primary layout and camera tool, with Houdini, Unreal, or other previs and layout tools considered an asset.
• Solid working knowledge of cinematography principles and how editorial, staging, and camera choices serve visual storytelling in animation.
• Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to manage complex sequences and competing deadlines across a full production schedule.
