Job Position(s): Art Director - Disney Television Animation
Project Type: TV Series
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: Paid - Salary

Disney Branded Television is staffing an Art Director for Disney Television Animation, based in Glendale, California. This role sits at the center of the visual development pipeline, overseeing the design team responsible for establishing and maintaining the episodic look, style guides, and overall visual consistency across a series from title sequence to end credits. It is the right fit for an experienced animation art director who is comfortable leading creative crews across both in-house and vendor studio environments.

About the Role

Disney Television Animation has over 40 years of history producing kids and family content, working across traditional 2D, rig-based 2D, CG preschool, CG premium, and stop-motion formats. The Art Director partners directly with the Executive Producer, Producer, Production Designer, and Vendor Studio to execute the creative vision within the series schedule and budget. Day to day, this means giving design notes, solving visual complexity problems before they reach production, and keeping the show’s style coherent across every department touching the artwork. Applications submitted to this posting remain valid through December 31, 2026, and candidates may be considered for any Art Director positions that open before that date.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work directly with the Executive Producer and directors on episodic look, mood, and visual tone across the full run of the series.
  • Oversee assembly and approval of design packages, ensuring all character, prop, and background art meets the established style guide standards.
  • Create and maintain detailed style guides used by both internal departments and external vendor studios throughout the production pipeline.
  • Anticipate and resolve design complexity issues before they create downstream problems in storyboard, layout, or animation.
  • Provide consistent, constructive feedback to artistic crew across multiple productions running concurrently in an episodic television environment.
  • Interface daily with internal creative and production teams as well as external vendor partners to align on visual direction and schedule priorities.

What You Bring

  • Demonstrated credits as an Art Director or Production Designer on episodic animation, with experience across more than one production format.
  • Proven ability to build and execute detailed style guides that hold up across a full series order.
  • Experience managing design teams in an animation studio environment, including giving notes to artists at varying skill levels.
  • Comfort working directly with vendor studios on overseas or hybrid production pipelines.
  • Strong working knowledge of visual development tools standard to the animation industry, with the ability to produce and review design work hands-on.

Why This Role

Disney Television Animation is one of the few animation studios operating across this many production formats simultaneously, which means real variety in the types of shows an Art Director can work on here. The studio’s output reaches families globally through Disney-branded platforms, giving the work a meaningful distribution footprint that most animation studios cannot match. This is a department leadership position with direct creative authority, not an oversight role removed from the actual work.

Apply now for the Art Director position at Disney Branded Television and be considered for openings across the Disney Television Animation roster through December 31, 2026.
