About the Role

The Lead Assistant Video Editor works directly with producers and editors inside a small, mission-driven agency whose output spans short films, long-form documentaries, and digital campaigns. Day to day, this person keeps the post-production pipeline running, handling everything from proxy workflows and media consolidation to schedule coordination and final deliverables. The projects are editorially and technically varied, so fluency across multiple formats, codecs, and delivery specs is genuinely necessary here.

Key Responsibilities

• Ingest, organize, relink, and consolidate media across a distributed remote post-production workflow using Adobe Premiere Pro.
• Build and manage multicam sequences, pull selects, and create stringouts based on scripts or editorial outlines.
• Prepare and transfer Premiere projects and large media libraries for remote editors, including proxy transcoding and encoding for final output.
• Use the Text Window to generate transcripts and captions, and manage licensing of stock footage, imagery, and music across productions.
• Reformat sequences and finished projects for different resolutions and aspect ratios to meet varied delivery specifications.
• Maintain backups, troubleshoot technical issues, and coordinate edit schedules to keep multiple projects on track simultaneously.

What You Bring

• Demonstrated professional experience as an assistant editor with deep proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and post-production workflow management.
• Hands-on knowledge of common professional codecs, frame rates, resolutions, and broadcast and digital delivery specifications.
• Experience with proxy workflows, media archiving, and preparing projects for remote editorial teams.
• Reliable high-speed internet at your primary work location, with reimbursement of up to $75 per month provided.
• Familiarity with After Effects, Photoshop, Airtable, Riverside, Rev, Dropbox, or Slack is a meaningful advantage.
• Fluency in English required; Spanish, French, or ASL is a genuine plus.
