Job Position(s): Videographer
Project Type: Commercial
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: Paid - Salary

Planet Labs PBC is hiring a Videographer based in San Francisco, California. This role sits within the Creative Core team in Marketing, where the primary output spans product explainers, customer story videos, brand campaign sizzles, and editorial content that translates complex satellite data and Earth observation technology into clear visual narratives. It suits a video professional who is comfortable owning the full post-production workflow from rough cut to final delivery, and who has enough production experience to step onto a shoot and direct talent when needed.

About the Role

The Creative Core team functions as an in-house content studio, working alongside external agencies and cross-functional creative partners to maintain a consistent brand voice across all video formats. On any given week, this Videographer might be cutting an interview-based customer story, storyboarding a product explainer with a writer and designer, or running a color grade and audio mix for a campaign asset. The role is hybrid, requiring three days per week in the San Francisco office, and carries real ownership across both production planning and post-production workflow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and shape the editorial narrative arc across multiple video formats, including product explainers, brand sizzles, and long-form customer stories.
  • Own the end-to-end post-production workflow covering rough cut assembly, picture lock, color correction, sound design, and final versioning for distribution.
  • Collaborate with designers and writers during pre-production to storyboard concepts and co-write scripts that communicate technical subject matter without losing clarity.
  • Integrate motion graphics, title cards, and design assets into the editorial timeline to maintain visual consistency across the brand’s video output.
  • Lead or contribute to production planning on shoot days, including camera operation, lighting setup, and directing on-camera talent.
  • Drive experimentation with AI-first video workflows such as voice generation, script-to-video tools, and automated captioning to improve production efficiency and explore new formats.

What You Bring

  • 2 to 3 years of professional experience in video production, editorial, or a closely related content production role.
  • Hands-on experience in DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Premiere Pro, or Final Cut Pro, with a portfolio that demonstrates editorial craft, pacing, and storytelling across varied durations and formats.
  • Script writing or co-writing experience, including interview-based narratives and structured outlines for non-scripted formats.
  • Production floor experience covering camera operation, lighting, and talent direction on location or in studio environments.
  • Familiarity with AI-driven production tools and a genuine curiosity about how emerging technologies are reshaping video production workflows.
  • Experience with the Adobe Suite and, as a strong differentiator, some working knowledge of GIS platforms such as ESRI ArcGIS or Mapbox, or direct exposure to Earth observation data.

Why This Role

Planet Labs PBC operates the largest constellation of imaging satellites in the world, which means the video content produced by this team covers genuinely consequential subject matter, from environmental monitoring to humanitarian applications, with a real audience of scientists, government agencies, and commercial partners. The Creative Core team is small and cross-functional, so a Videographer here carries meaningful creative responsibility rather than executing tasks handed down a long chain of approvals. The application deadline for this role is November 18, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. PT.

Apply now for the Videographer position at Planet Labs PBC and bring your editorial and production experience to a team making content that reflects genuinely complex technology for a global audience.
