Job Position(s): Marketing Photographer/Videographer
Project Type: Short Film
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: $23 - $30/year

Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, KS is hiring a Marketing Photographer/Videographer to lead visual content production for the college’s Strategic Communications and Marketing department. This role owns the full production workflow from concept through delivery, producing photography, short-form video, and multimedia storytelling assets across owned, earned, shared, and paid channels. It suits a working photographer and videographer who is equally comfortable directing an interview setup as they are managing a digital asset library.

About the Role

The Marketing Photographer/Videographer sits inside the Strategic Communications and Marketing department and reports directly to the Vice President of that division, which means visual decisions carry real institutional weight. Day-to-day work spans campus photo shoots, testimonial video production, social media content creation, and post-production editing across a range of formats. The role supports enrollment campaigns, retention initiatives, and brand-level marketing, so output is tied to measurable institutional goals rather than one-off requests.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce photography and video assets across environmental portraits, architectural shots, classroom interactions, and high-energy event coverage aligned to campaign briefs.
  • Develop shot lists, storyboards, and content plans in coordination with channel owners and marketing team members before production begins.
  • Create and edit short-form video optimized for platform-specific social crops, web, email, and large-format print, with full color correction and audio editing in post-production workflow.
  • Coach on-camera participants including students, faculty, staff, and community members to capture authentic, person-first storytelling.
  • Ensure accessibility compliance across all media through captioning, transcriptions, and alt text on delivered assets.
  • Curate and manage the central digital asset library, organizing, tagging, and uploading content to maintain a production-ready archive for the marketing team.

What You Bring

  • A bachelor’s degree in film/video production, photography, communications, journalism, or a related field, plus four or more years of professional experience in photography and video production.
  • Demonstrated experience across the full production workflow, from pre-production planning through post-production delivery.
  • Proficiency in video editing, color correction, image retouching, and audio editing using professional-grade software.
  • Experience producing short-form video content for social media platforms with working knowledge of platform-specific format requirements.
  • Proven ability to manage digital asset libraries and deliver files formatted for high-resolution print, web, and digital signage.

Why This Role

Johnson County Community College runs one of the larger marketing operations in the Kansas City higher education market, and this position has genuine creative scope across a full calendar of campaigns rather than a narrow content niche. The role offers a hybrid schedule and a starting salary range of $23.68 to $30.64 per hour, determined by relevant years of experience provided on the application and resume. For a photographer and videographer looking to own a production slate with institutional backing and room to develop a visual identity, this is a substantive staff position with long-term stability.

Apply now for the Marketing Photographer/Videographer position at Johnson County Community College and bring your production experience to a team where visual storytelling drives real enrollment outcomes.
