Job Position(s): Compositor - Mid/Senior
Project Type: Feature Film
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: Paid - Salary

Framestore is hiring a Mid/Senior Compositor to join their film and episodic VFX studio in Melbourne, Australia. This role sits within the compositing department, where the work involves integrating 2D, 3D, and live action elements to final picture quality across high-end feature film production. It suits an experienced compositor who can own a shot from brief to delivery and communicate clearly across a VFX pipeline without needing their hand held.

About the Role

Framestore’s compositing team works directly with Compositing Supervisors and VFX Supervisors across projects that demand a high bar, technically and creatively. Day to day, that means pulling briefs from Leads, managing your own shot queue, and keeping production informed on where things stand. The studio has multi-Oscar-winning credits and works with directors and producers from early in the filmmaking process, so the compositing work here carries real weight on the final image.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate the creative and technical approach to assigned shots in close collaboration with the Compositing Supervisor and VFX Supervisor.
  • Integrate 2D, 3D, and live action elements to feature film visual effects standards across your shot allocation.
  • Take direction from Lead Compositors and execute shots according to brief, incorporating notes and feedback efficiently.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with production and department leads regarding schedules and any deadline shifts.
  • Manage your own time and workload, tracking feedback actions and keeping supervisors across your progress without prompting.
  • Apply a solid understanding of colour space principles to ensure consistent, technically accurate composites within the post-production workflow.

What You Bring

  • Mid to senior level compositing experience, with credits on feature film or high-end episodic television production.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard compositing software, with a working knowledge of CG integration and rendering output formats.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance creative problem-solving with technical accuracy across a range of shot types.
  • Familiarity with colour science and colour space management as applied within a professional VFX pipeline.
  • Strong communication habits across production and supervisory relationships, particularly around scheduling and deliverables.

Why This Role

Framestore is one of the most credited visual effects studios working in film today, with a reputation built on consistent output at the top end of the industry. The Melbourne studio offers access to that pedigree alongside a focused team environment where a compositor at this level can work on projects that actually reach audiences. For someone who wants their compositing work to sit inside meaningful feature film production, this is a serious shop.

Apply now for the Mid/Senior Compositor role at Framestore and put your shot work in front of a team that takes the craft seriously.
